Iowa's Legacy Cremation Services Provider is There When you Need Us Most with Funeral Homes Services

Iowa's Legacy Cremation Services provider is there whenever you need us with our funeral homes services, memorials, and cremations. You can have confidence in knowing that Legacy is over two decades old and run by the same family who bean assisting families before cremation services became acceptable among 40% of the population.
The Purpose of Funeral or Cremation Services with a Memorial
Recognizing the death of a loved one and its finality has been customary around the world for at least three hundred thousand years. Not all customs are the same, but everyone finds it comforting to get support and to offer support to loved ones and everyone has the need to grieve, funerals provide a place to do this in a fitting place. Having funeral services is also a way for family and friends to celebrate the life, and accomplishments of the departed, to reminisce and to prepare yourself for a life without your loved one.
There are many families that will only consider having funeral homes services, with a full traditional viewing, visitation, religious service and burial or entombment. When you use Legacy we will handle all of the arrangements for a complete traditional funeral service that you and your family and friends will be proud of.
Funerary Customs
Funerary customs encompass the multifaceted beliefs and traditions used by a culture to memorialize the dead. From the interment to various rituals and prayers that ar performed in honor of the departed. Funeral services even vary within the culture itself due to religious beliefs.
There are customs that only allow cremation, others call for immediate cleansing of the deceased with a shroud placed one the body before a simple prayer and do not allow cremation only burial services. Some people are now expanding the wake and cremation process in their cultures to even include scattering of the ashes and burials in outer space. While a new way to handle cremated remains is coming into popularity, the ashes are converted into a diamond and worn as jewelry.
Many religions that used to frown upon cremation are now accepting the practice but people still follow the old traditional funeral homes service.
Traditional funerals, like most held in Iowa, consist of;

  • Embalming the deceased only after organs are removed if the departed was an organ donor
  • Washing and dressing with make-up applied
  • An open or closed casket viewing and visitation for family and friends
  • A religious prayer said at the funeral homes visitation room, or church
  • A burial ceremony at the cemetery
  • And final burial or entombment of the deceased

All of these different services may sound expensive but in all actuality cremation is least expensive way to celebrate a life that has ended.
Funeral Services by Legacy
Legacy Cremation Services does all of the above funerary arrangements with the same respect and dignity we give your loved one all of the time. When we are in charge of funeral services, we will not make any arrangements until all funeral homes and services costs are discussed with you. The will be no surprises that come when you receive the final bill because we cover every aspect of what is included in the original cremation costs.
Included in the original funeral homes services costs are all dealing with the medical examiner or hospital, getting copies of the death certificate, driving the deceased to the crematory, returning the remains after the cremation process, and a rigid urn, that you might want to replace if you will be keeping the ashes in your home. We also include the filing of papers for Social Security, Life Insurance and any Veterans benefits. If your loved one was in the military they are entitled to a Veterans burial in the National Cemetery of Iowa, we will also handle all of those arrangements.
Those are the items that we include in the original cremation costs but they are not all of the services we will perform.
Grief
At Legacy we take care of all of your funeral services needs whatever they are. We will be with you throughout the entire process even after the services we will be there for you when you are grieving, actually we are there for you before, during and after the funeral services when it comes to your grief.
The grieving process varies by person and adult to child. We will help you no matter what age you are, one of our professionals will assist you or you can read about the different stages of grief on an individual basis such as when your spouse dies, or how to deal with the death of a child, or how to make it through the holidays and more.
