How to Honor a Life

veteran benefitsOne thing you can do to begin the healing process is to pay your respects in a distinctly personal way: What did he or she stand for? Value? Teach you?

Ask us about all the ways we can help you to uniquely celebrate your loved one’s legacy: burial at sea, scattering of cremains, interment of the ashes, viewings, and memorial services. Each can be done with a personal touch.

Scattering at Sea

scatering seaThe popularity of scattering at sea is steadily growing as people look to the organic nature of the ocean to help them bring closure to their loss.

Scattering at sea combines a sense of finality with a new beginning, as it returns us to nature and our origins.

If you are considering scattering the cremains of a loved one, we have lots of helpful information.

Legacy Cremation Services, serving Milwaukee, WI,
Can Help You Pre-Plan A Cremation Service:
Let’s Talk.

Losing a loved one is inevitable, and we understand how devastating that can be. If you’re responsible for making the final arrangements, that can feel overwhelming. That is why your first call should be to Legacy – the premiere cremation provider assisting families in your area – where our dedicated staff is available around the clock to help you through every step.

And remember: cremation pre-planning lessens the burden.

Legacy is a cremation provider offering a dignified and respectful alternative to traditional funerals and burials at a far lower cost. Our experienced, professional cremation staff is available to answer all your questions 24 / 7 about the cremation process and will work with you to develop a specific cremation plan that accommodates your final wishes, or those of a loved one. Residents of Milwaukee can trust Legacy to professionally and respectfully meet your cremation needs.

Why Pre-Plan? Family-owned for two decades, Legacy prides itself on providing quality cremations at an exceptional value. However, pre-planned cremation arrangements offer an individualized way to alleviate the burden of making all those decisions at a particularly stressful time. Define your wishes, or the wishes of a loved one, and plan according to today’s prices, rather than a potentially higher future price.

The importance of the insurance factor. Funeral insurance is an important consideration when it comes to making choices about final arrangements, and we want you to be prepared with as much information as possible. Here are some things that our cremation consultants want you to consider:

  • Does your loved one have insurance for final arrangements, and where is the paper work kept?
  • Does your loved one’s policy cover only the most basic services, or does it cover more than that?
  • Is there a relative prepared to make up the difference if more elaborate arrangements are planned?

Rest assured, the price will be right. At Legacy, it is our policy to discuss all arrangements in detail, and provide all financial information about the cremation options you select, up front. The price of cremation services and programs can vary considerably, and we want you to know exactly what you’re paying for in advance, as we know this will greatly ease your mind. These are the kinds of things we will carefully review with you:

  • Where do you want to have the viewing? Viewings can occur at home, at the Legacy premises, at a Masonic lodge, at a VFW, at graveside, or anywhere else you prefer.  If you are not having a viewing at Legacy, you will not be asked to pay for that.
  • What are the cremation costs? Legacy will take the time to explain each step of the process and the costs involved. There are a wide range of options available for the cremains, and we will go over all the possibilities and costs in detail.
  • How many services are you planning? Some families prefer to have more than one service, and this is absolutely possible. We will make sure that you only pay for what you want and we will make sure to include all the cremation costs.
  • What happens if we have multiple viewings or services? If this is what you want, Legacy will be sure to inform you of all costs associated with transporting the body.

And, we can help you get benefits.

  • For veterans. If your loved one is a veteran, a Legacy cremation counselor can help you make the special arrangements to which you or your loved one are entitled. Our knowledgeable staff is equipped to answer all the pertinent questions such as:
    • Who is eligible?
    • How do I apply?
    • How does reimbursement of expenses work?
    • How do I get a burial flag?
    • Are we eligible for a Presidential Memorial Certificate?
  • Social Security: A deceased worker must have credit for work covered by Social Security, ranging from 1 1/2 to 10 years depending on his or her age at death. The following monthly benefits may be available for:
    • A widow or widower age 60 or older (50 if disabled), or at any age if caring for an entitled child who is under 16 or disabled.
    • A divorced widow or widower age 60 or older (50 if disabled) if the marriage lasted 10 years, or if caring for an entitled child who is under 16 or disabled.
    • Unmarried children up to 18 (19 if they are attending a primary or secondary school full lime).
    • Children who were disabled before reaching 22, as long as they remained disabled.
    • Dependent parent or parents 62 or older.

Legacy Cremation Services is sensitive to all aspects
of the financial complexities of cremation planning.

We are fully equipped to help you through it all, each step of the way.
