Texas' Legacy Cremation Services A Family Owned Provider Servicing Other Families for Over Two Decades
Texas Legacy Cremation Services is a family owned provider servicing other families for over two decades. We are proud of our reputation of being one of the most trusted providers in Texas and will never change how we treat our customers for anything. Our prices are all affordable cremation costs that will fit your budget.
The Details of Cremation Services
The details involved in a cremation service are done mostly behind the scenes with paperwork and the actual cremation process which cannot be watched from the direct area. The cremation itself happens in an enclosed chamber for safety and for the ability to keep everyone separate so there is never a mix of ashes.
The process starts when the deceased's body is released from the hospital or morgue to our care. We begin by obtaining all copies of death certificates needed. You need to let us know if you want us to file for Social Security, or Life insurance, and if your loved one served in the US military, they will be entitled to a burial in a National cemetery with a headstone provided.
For Social Security benefits, you need to be either a surviving spouse at an appropriate age, or a child that is 18 and still in high school or any child 17 or younger.
If you do want these papers filed, you need to give copies of the SS card, any life insurance papers and military records.
All of these are included in cremation costs
While we are doing this, the crematorium will be processing the deceased in the cremation chamber. The body is reduced to ashes, with some bone fragments left and any metal that was left in or on the body. These will be removed before the remains go to the apparatus that will crush the remaining bone shards with a large magnet.
After the remains are complete and powder like they will be transferred to an urn that you purchased or a rigid container that we supply and returned to us here at Texas' Legacy Cremation Services.
After the Cremation Process
You can either pick up the urn and bring it home for safe keeping or have a memorial service for your loved one. The memorial service is somewhat like a gathering of friends and family for the usual breakfast or lunch that people have after a funeral.
The urn is not included in the cremation costs
For the memorial we suggest having a celebration of the unique life that your loved one lived instead of the usual service where people come to mourn. You can certainly grieve for your loved one and no one is saying that you should not. What we are saying is that when you look back at a life well lived there are so many things to remember and celebrate that families and friends walk away with a better feeling rather than feeling sadder.
The memorial service is is not included in the initial cremation costs
The Unique Memorial
The memorial can easily be made unique to your loved one by bringing items with you that remind you of good times, or things from the person's life that they loved. It is a good idea to ask other family and friends to bring things also.
These items will spark memories and get everyone wanting to know what they meant or how they played a part in your loved one's life. This automatically turns the service from one of sadness to one of contemplation. People are looking at this person in a new light. They may have never known some of the things that the departed really enjoyed or how they helped other people until this day.
A few items that we have seen families and friends bring in are, a bottle of their loved ones favorite brandy, a box of their best cigars, a smoking jacket, even a favorite chair.
Just use your imagination and the things that surrounded your loved one their whole lives, we will offer suggestions and help you set these items up around the room where you are having the memorial service. If you can, hold the memorial in your loved ones house and you will not have to move anything. People will get to see exactly how they lived and get a better appreciation for them.
Our suggestions and help with memorial service is included in the cremation costs.
