Rhode Island
Rhode Island's Legacy Cremation Services Compassion and Trust When you Need it Most
Rhode Island's Legacy Cremation Services gives you compassion and trust when you need it most. We never take advantage of you like some large corporate owned funeral or cremation services providers do. We are family owned and proud of it.
The Cremation Process versus a Funeral
When you have to decide between cremation services or a funeral, it helps if you can understand where the differences are, and there are many beside for cremation costs being much lower.
For traditional funeral services you will have the deceased transported to the funeral home for embalming, cleansing and dressing before the viewing.
With Cremation the deceased is transported to the crematorium, the cremation process is performed and the remains are driven back to Rhode Island's Legacy Cremation Services.
Just by having a cremation, up to this point, means you will saving thousands of dollars by having cremation services at lower cremation costs.
Cremation costs are typically four times less than funerals.
Continuing on, after the embalming and dressing for a funeral there will be a viewing in either a large or small viewing or visitation room. You pay by the size of the room that you need. Then there are the flowers, the Mass cards, the obituary, the casket, the religious service, if you are having one, the hearse to transport the deceased to the church or cemetery, the cemetery plot, the opening of the plot, a liner or vault and the headstone.
All of this adds up to thousands of dollars more than cremation costs
After the cremation services are performed the only other cremation costs might be an urn for keeping the ashes, and the memorial service. You can chose to have it in a funeral home if you wish and you will have to pay for the rental of the room you want to use. However, a memorial service for your loved one who has been cremated can take place anywhere, even your home, which would certainly bring down the cremation costs.
If you decide on a scattering of the ashes at sea, you will pay for a yacht or other smaller boat to take you out in the ocean with exact coordinates for you to place the ashes in the water or scatter them into the wind. We make all of the arrangements for you so you have nothing to worry about except how you want to say goodbye and of course the added cremation costs.
You can also bury the ashes at the cemetery without the cost of opening the plot, place them in a mausoleum, or even keep them at home.
A memorial service is typical after cremation services but this does not have to be expensive and we at Rhode Island's Legacy Cremation Services will make all of the arrangements for you and include them with the cremation costs if you like.
Our Recommendations for a Memorial Service
Whether you choose to have a funeral or cremation services we have the same recommendation for the service. We encourage you to have a life celebration instead of a mourning service. With this type of services you will find out more about your loved one's life, and feel better after the services. We have seen this over and over again as people thank us for recommending this type of memorial.
What you do is gather things or photos even recording from your loved one's life, you can ask friends and other family for things they may have that bring back good memories of the deceased. These items are than displayed on memorial tables set up around the place of your choice.
We say your choice because after you give us ideas on what type of service you want we will find a few places for you to choose from, so you do not have to worry about running around trying to find a hall or restaurant that can accommodate your wishes.
Once these items are out for display you will notice people walking around and enjoying the parts of your loved one's life that they never knew existed or they will be reminiscing about their own memories. You will even notice the feeling in the room begin to lighten as people are reminded of happier times.
This is the way to celebrate a unique lived. Just as your loved one was unique in life so will they be remembered at their memorial, for the unique quality of life they lived. People will know how they got along with their family and friends, what they contributed to other people's life's, and how they enjoyed certain things.
This is much more meaningful than sitting around a funeral parlor for three days in a somber room full of people.
Rhode Island's Legacy Cremation Services gives you compassion and trust when you need it most.
