The Cremation
The actual cremation process itself is performed separately from the memorial, in a crematory. A few family members can attend the actual cremation process by filing out a form at the crematory. After the cremation your loved ones’ remains will be driven back to Legacy Cremation Services where we can either start the with memorial services, transfer the ashes to an urn your have purchased, or you can simply pick up the remains. The urn is not included in the cremation costs, unless purchased through Legacy.
The cremation may take place after you have a funeral and visitation at a funeral home, if that is what you wish, or they can take place directly after the deceased’s paperwork is released from the medical examiner. The cremation costs themselves will remain the same.
The Memorial
Many families now chose to have a memorial after the cremation services. These memorials can be a simple get-together of a few friends and family members at a restaurant with photos and items from your loved ones life or a more elaborate service with a gathering of friends and family in funeral home viewing room for a full memorial service, and a luncheon following.
We will discuss all cremation costs before any services take place.
Some families choose to do a small ceremony before they scatter their loved one’s ashes at sea. Another new option is a green-burial where your loved one’s remains are incorporated into a memorial coral reef where they will be forever a part of the life that grows around it. These services will be included in the final cremation costs if Legacy makes the arrangements.
After the Memorial
Other options for after the cremation is complete and the memorial is over, are either to bury the ashes in the urn at a cemetery or memorial park that is designed for only ashes, or to place the urn in a mausoleum. We will make all of the arrangements with the cemetery or memorial park of your choice, if you decide on one of the above options, and include it in the final cremation costs..
Whatever your family chooses to do, we at Legacy will prepare all of the arrangements for you and you will never worry about the final cremation costs, because we inform you of the prices before we do the service.
