Saying Goodbye to a Loved One - Devotion in Ink

In the East North Central States, several have cremation rates that fall below the national below. This is certainly true of the rates for cremation services in Ohio. They stand at 39.5 percent. Nevertheless, cremation rates continue to rise in this state. It is indicative of the continued momentum indicated by the rates in other states throughout the country.
In some instances the interest in the lower cremation costs in Ohio are responsible. Direct cremations are certainly more affordable than direct or immediate funerals. In Ohio, cremation costs still remain low even when the cremation includes a service with the deceased present prior to his or her disposal. Yet, it is not simply the price of cremation services that attracts those in Ohio. Cremation services offer individuals the chance to provide the deceased with a variety of send-offs - ones that can directly relate to or reflect a specific aspect of their lifestyle or one that once formed a part of a bucket-wish list.
Scattering Ashes in Ohio
In Ohio, the law allows for the scattering of remains legally in various places. These include areas dedicated for such matters. These include scattering gardens at crematories or cemeteries. You can also scatter the cremains (ashes) at sea or cast them in the air.
Ohio Cremation Jewelry & Tattooing with Ashes
Today, cremains also make their way into jewelry - literally and figuratively, and become glass globes. A less common trend, however, is truly for those who want to keep a piece of their loved one with them forever. It is for those who believe their body is a canvas and tattooing is a work of art. For them, the best way to honor the deceased, to show how much they care and respect them, what they did and who they were is not to scatter the cremains as part of some cremation services. In Ohio, some people are deciding to reflect their love by getting a Memorial Tattoo.
What is a Memorial Tattoo?
Memorial tattoos, also known as commemorative, ritual tattoos or memorial body inking are not new. Ancient tribes have performed this act for many years. One tattoo artist has been performing this type of cremation services in Ohio for over 30 years. Yet, recently, it has increased its popularity as a means of becoming part of the question, "What do I do with the cremains?"
It has a limited market, but memorial tattoos certainly are a unique answer to what, for some individuals, is a difficult question. The cremation costs in Ohio may increase with the addition of this expense, but it is considered by many as a means of creating a permanent and an absolute memorialization or even immortalization of their lost loved one. This is particularly true if the grieving one is already having a tattoo done in the deceased's memory. It is merely taking the process one step further.
How is it done?
The process, of including skin art as part of cremation services in Ohio, while a little fidgety, is not overly complex. In essence, the method does not differ significantly from the average tattoo process. Moreover, the amount of ashes the tattoo artist requires is microscopic. It simply requires the addition of a miniscule amount of ash to the ink being used by the tattoo artist to create the tattoo. The tattoo artist makes sure the cremains are a finely ground powder before he or she proceeds.
The ashes are made sterile before they are integrated with the ink and placed in the hygienic equipment used by the artist. Once thoroughly mixed, the needle inks the mixture into your skin in the specified tattoo design. The artistic creation may be as simple as a name or as elaborate as a depiction of a specific scene, animal or event.
The elaborateness of the work and the amount of color used will add to the cremation costs in Ohio and elsewhere. That may not be a problem. What may prove difficult is finding a specific tattoo artist who will agree to perform the "ritual." He or she may be reluctant for one reason or another to create a memorial tattoo.
Are there any Risks?

The artists who create memorial tattoos believe the process is entirely safe. Those in the medical profession have some doubt. They regard it as placing a "foreign" substance into the body which could result in either infection or rejection.
As for what the law says?
The Law, Ohio Cremation Services and Tattoos
In Ohio, the only state law directly governing tattooing concerns age. Under Ohio Revised Code section 3730.06, someone under 18 cannot have a tattoo unless his or her "parent, guardian, or custodian" consents to the action by their presence or in a written document. Other laws focus on sterilization and sanitation. Neither bodies concern themselves with Ohio cremation costs if including a memorial tattoo.
Tattoos have become popular in today's society. They require determination. If you wish to create a lasting tribute through this medium, consult the authorities. Before you make a decision to create this lasting memorial, talk to us at Ohio cremation services. We will listen to your concerns before we offer any suggestions.
