The basics of what we do start with transporting your loved one to the crematorium, identifying the body and picking them up when the remains are ready. That sounds easy but there is a lot of paperwork involved and we will do it all so you don't have to. We know that your time is of the utmost importance and once we have the information we need from you we can move forward with all arrangements with little or no interruption in your life at all.
We try to do more than what is expected of us at all times. Part of that is filing papers for Social Security, life insurance and any Veterans benefits. This too may seem easy but if you mess up the papers for any of them you will be waiting for a long time just to find out they are wrong. We at Washington's Legacy cremation services are very proficient in filing for these and never seem to have a problem.

Never Worry About a Mix of Ashes with Legacy Cremation Services
When you use Washington's Legacy cremation service, you will never have to think twice about your loved ones ashes being mixed up with anyone else's. We make sure that we use a service that only fits one body into the cremation chamber at a time and cleans it out thoroughly after the process is complete. We do our own inspections to make sure of this.
This does not add to cremation costs
The body is placed in a heat and fire chamber, the temperature is turned up and the body is reduced to remains that may still have some small bone fragments after 2 to 3 hours. When the body is removed from the chamber, it will be placed on a cooling tray, all metal is removed with a large magnet and any leftover filings or other small objects are thrown away, before the remains are crushed to a powder like substance.
The Memorial
After the cremation process is over most people have a memorial services. At Washington's Legacy Cremation Services we encourage people to have one, in fact we encourage people to celebrate the life of the individual who has passed on, instead of mourning them.
Doing this does not add to cremation costs
Our staff has seen remarkable results when caring for families who have a remembrance of the one and only life that was lived by the deceased. We say one and only because this is truly a unique life, no one else has ever lived the exact same way that this individual did, no one ever felt their thoughts, or feelings and no one ever acted the same as they did. This uniqueness should be celebrated not mourned over.
When the staff saw people after memorials where they did celebrate the life of the deceased they were happier than those people who did not have this type of service. People that had the typical service seemed depressed and upset. They have watched this over the years and it is amazing but the statistics are true, every family who celebrated the life of someone stayed in a better mood than those who did not.
With a celebration of life, service the cremation costs do not change, the only thing that is different is what is brought to the memorial and how it is presented. We encourage people to bring things from their loved ones life that inspired them, that gave their loved one joy.
Even if all they have to bring is photographs from their loved one past that is fine. We will help to arrange them in such a way that everyone who sees them will get a timeline on their life, and know a little bit better, how they lived their life. As long as conversations are targeted at the good times, they will be happier remembering the good times. Maybe people can get up and speak about wonderful memories they had with this person, tell stories about fun times or how they learned something from this individual. All of these would be important to keeping the memorial towards the lighter side, the side of life that showed how well this person lived.
